A few things about contact lenses

The first contact lenses ever made were developed out of glass. After that, new types appeared, as the ones made of Plexiglas and the rigid gas permeable ones, but, nowadays, the soft contact lens is the most appreciated. Modern materials include silicon hydrogel or other plastic polymers like etalficon A, galyficon A, senofilcon A (used in the fabrication of Acuvue contact lenses). Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are recommended to the persons with dry eyes as these lenses contain no water that could evaporate during the wearing.

The wearing time

A daily contact lens is safer as the risk of infection is lower than at the long term contact lens. This type does not require cleaning, being single-use only. It is sterile. And it even keeps you away from spending money on cleaning or storage solutions. On the other hand, the extended wear type of contact lenses allows people to easily wear contacts for a longer period while allowing oxygenation (they usually have a high oxygen permeability rate). Some people prefer them as their convenience is obvious, but the risk of infection is higher than at the daily type of contact lenses due to the bacterial stagnation, dust accumulation and so on.

One of the most popular contact lenses brand in the world is Acuvue, produced by Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary Vistakon Company. They provide both vision and esthetical contact lenses. They design disposable lenses, making types that are to be replaced every two weeks (Acuvue, Acuvue 2, Acuvue 2 Colors, Acuvue Advanced and Acuvue Oasys) or less (1-Day Acuvue). They’re also started making extended wear lenses.

Where to buy them from

Contact lens quality is very important. Low-quality contact lenses can damage the eye, causing irritations or hurting the eyelid or the cornea. Attention must be paid to the way the lenses are worn, kept and cleaned because, even if they are high-quality, they present different risks. So, the contact lens must be bought from specialised stores after consulting a doctor. Places where these items are available can be found anywhere as the contact lenses online are very popular. Another tendency is to acquire them from an on-line store. This method can even be less expensive and still offer the same quality. You just need the prescription. But be careful and only choose reputable stores. Your health is at stake.

Improve Eyesight Naturally or Would You Like To Go For LASIK surgery?

Frankly speaking, it is not nice, it’s annoying and you will look older if you’re wearing eyeglasses but what else can you do if your ophthalmologist will recommend you wearing them especially when you’re having troubles with your vision. But why wear eyeglasses if you can manage to retain your normal vision? Yes, that’s right. Ophthalmologists now have another procedure that can do such thing and it’s called Lasik surgery. After going through LASIK, you can already get rid of your eyeglasses or contact lenses weeks after the wound has healed. On the other hand, LASIK eye surgery is not the only way to get get back that 20/20 vision of yours, the one that you have when you were young. You can even improve your eyesight naturally.

Yes, that is right and I should know that because I, too, have improved my eyesight in the most natural way possible and it’s through the help of a downloadable e-book guide called “Vision Without Glasses”. It didn’t explain anything about what kind of supplements you need to consume, it will not tell you of what type of eye surgery you need to undergo to bring that clearer vision of you when you were still young and definitely, it will not tell you what kinds of synthetic medications to consume in order to help you with improving eyesight but it will only teach you some an “Exercises Improve Vision” system that will only require you to do these exercises just a few minutes each day anytime you want and anywhere you are.

Right now, I can’t say that my vision is already perfect but I have observed some good improvements and I’m confident I can finally throw my eyeglasses away when the time comes because there is nothing quite like the system to improve eyesight naturally and this book guide I’ve mentioned and I’ve also used is the best medium for it.

How Your Eyesight Changes After Forty

Do you struggle to see clearly up close? you may have hyperopia. But it could also be presbyopia. The truth is they are similar optically but have very different causes. Since they are different conditions, the treatment options will vary as well.

Hyperopia occurs when the light that enters the eye can not focus on the retina, because the eye is to short, the light actually would focus behind the eye. This occurs when the distance between the front and back of the eye is too shot. People can have hyperopia at any age. Young children will often out grow hyperopia as they become older. However if they don’t, hyperopia can be corrected with either contacts or eyeglasses. For mild hyperopic corrections some reading eyeglasses can correct vision. Corrective surgery, such as LASIK, is one available treatment option.

Presbyopia, on the other hand, also causes one to have difficulty reading close up, but it is age-related, and affects people over 40. It is the result of the lens inside the eye becoming harder and losing flexibility with age. The visual result is similar to that of hyperopia; poor vision at near. In general, this is corrected with lenses. reading eyeglasses are commonly used to bring clarity to objects at near distances. Another option is to use contact lenses for monovision, when one eye is corrected for distance vision and the other corrected for near vision. Monovision wearers must train their eyes to adapt to a new way of viewing things up close and far away. Very similar to bifocal or progressive eyeglasses, multifocal contact lenses can correct presbyopia.

Hyperopia is not inevitable, and it can be treated surgically. Presbyopia will eventually effect us all, but until very recently was not treated with surgery. When eyes begin to lose flexibility and are no longer to see crisply and clearly close up, it is time for treatment. Even though there are surgical options available for presbyopia, the majority of people still choose a simple pair of readers. They are safe and do not require anestesia of lasers near the eye, plus they can be very stylish too. Once a person has accepted that they need reading glasses, they may as well get a pair that will be fashionable too.

Various Multi-View Eyewear For Improved Near Vision

Trifocals are and advanced style of reading glasses. Trifocals will provide you with three vision segments, as the name suggests. You might think that it will be difficult to read through a pair of glasses with three lines etched on it, but this is actually pretty easy to get used to. You will find trifocals offer better range of vision once you have adapted to them. You can consider this similar to climbing up steps. Rather than jumping straight up to step three, it is easier to use step two. The three areas of correction are designed ot reduce strain and relax your eyes into clear visoin.

Most doctors will prescribe trifocals over bifocals for advanced cases of presbyopia. If your eye doctor suggests them you will benefit from the near, intermediate, and distance correction. There are complicated calculations to tell you what your net optical power is going to be. Optical power is measured in a special unit called diopter.

Bifocals can offer correction only at two ranges of distance, that is to say, near vision or distance vision. Trifocals will offer a wider range of vision correctoin and corrected distances. Because of this, trifocals is the optimal choice in clarity for a majority of advanced presbyopes.

Trifocals are not right for everybody, they work best for people who have vision challenges in multiple areas. They are designed for more advanced cases of presbyopia. It is the intermediate segment of a trifocal lens that takes some people a little time to get used to. For instance, if you have a power of -4 diopters and a correction of 3 units, you end up with a power of -1. The intermediate vision correction will be -2.5.

o Even a lay person can understand why you get distinctly better vision with trifocals rather than bifocals. They give you three areas of correction, like a bifocal but with built in intermediate vision.

The top portion of the lens will have distance correction, so to see clearly at near simply gaze downward through the lower portion of the lens. The shape of the etched line will be that of a semi circular arc. The near and intermediate portion of a lens is clearly etched with a line.

o The problem of short sightedness is dealt with by a special region near the bottom of the lens. A good optician will fit the eyeglasses and lenses so adaptation is a breeze.

The section that corrects intemediate vision is directly above the full near vision correction. This won’t cover a great range of distance, but will enable you to see clearly those things which are not near and not very far off either.

One pair of trifocals is often all an advanced presbyope needs to read, work, and enjoy good vision. You may find yourself unsatisfied with the line markings that split the varying optical areas of the lenses. If adapting to the lined lenses is an issue or you just don’t like the way they look get progressives. They will work just as well as trifocals. Many people find progressives to be the most comfortable because there are no lines or jumps, just an even blend of correction. With them, you will enjoy optimal clarity and comfort through your eyeglasses.
